15-го жовтня в Закарпатському обласному музеї народної архітектури та побуту (на 2-му поверсі) відкрилася виставка фотографій полячки Анни Вальчик під назвою «Свідки страждання».
15th October, in Transcarpathian Regional Museum of Folk Architecture and Life (on the 2nd floor), an exhibition of photographs by Anna Valchyk from Poland entitled "Witnesses of suffering" opened.
The exhibition features more than 30 photographs, which depict the historical sites of Egypt (Mukattam quarter with its inhabitants, Christians who are engaged in waste collection and sorting of waste for sale). On the author’s photographs, Mrs. Anna captured Coptic Cathedral of St. Mark in Cairo (Egypt) which is the largest church in Africa, the Melkite Church (Israel), the church in Gehard (Armenia) and others.
Since 1991, Anna Valchyk has been capturing important moments of life of people who live in places where Christianity is a minority and where believers are opressed.
Many holy places and people, photographed by Ms. Anna, are already destroyed and remain only in memory and on photographs.
Anna Valchyk captured on her photographs witnesses of pain and suffering and became a witness of suffering herself.
The exhibition in Uzhgorod runs until the 27th of October.
