This year, there have been 29 fires in Transcarpathian schools

Within only six months in Transcarpathia, there have been 29 fires in schools. 12 people were injured. The fires caused educational institutions losses amounting to almost 350,000 UAH. Those data were obtained by the State Emergencies Service of Ukraine, which checked the fire safety in schools of the region.  The rescuers also noted that the state of fire safety in educational establishments of Transcarpathia requires significant improvement.

Instead, the regional Department of Education responded… with a letter. They have developed a comprehensive plan for the prevention of emergency situations of technogenic and natural character in the schools of the region during the autumn-winter of 2013/2014. However, the officials have not provided for the funds to implement the plan.
