Today in the "Ilko Gallery", the long-awaited exhibition of famous Transcarpathia graphic artist Pavlo Bedzir opened.
The curators of the exhibition "Known and unknown P.Bedzir", which features almost fifty graphic paintings, were Mykhailo Ilko and Taras Tabaka. The works were taken from private collections. Among the graphic, visitors can also see several paintings of Pavlo Bedzir.
They all reflect career of the known Transcarpathian graphic artist and clearly demonstrate his preferences.
For a long period of his life, he was working on series of works united by the theme of "Life of Trees". The artist was convinced that every tree lives its own life, has its distinguishing character, living space and purpose. He transferred the laws of society, personality, to the life of trees. Pavlo Bedzir found deep philosophical parallels between the life of people and that of trees. At the exhibition, visitors can see a considerable collection from this series.
Art critic Mykhailo Syrokhman mentions that P.Bedzir was a "friend, a philosopher, an artist…". He was a living legend. He studied the Hungarian language and was always engaged in self-development. P.Bedzir taught others to be free and independent.
The curator Mykhailo Ilko noted that this exhibition is significant because pictures were taken from the private collections of different families. As for the art of P.Bedzir he said: "For me, even graphics by Pavlo Bedzir are paintings.His canvas live their own lives and it is good.After the exhibition "Known and unknown P. Bedzir" he, once undervalued, I’m sure, will become more famous."
Pavlo Kovacs said briefly about his teacher, friend and mentor: "Pavlo dreamed of Paris. He wanted to make an exhibition only there.Fortunately today we understand that Paris is in our gallery."
The exhibition of works by Pavlo Bedzir on the second floor of the art center is only one of many surprises prepared by curators of the exhibition: on the 1st floor there is a real forest – the idea of Mykhailo Ilko, and at the entrance you will be greeted by a portrait of P.Bedzir, made of bronze by sculptor Ivan Masnyuk.
Also on the 1st floor, within the next two weeks, you will be able to see the works of the followers of P.Bedzir, artists Nataliya Shevchenko, Pavlo Kovac (senior) and his son Danylo, Ivan Nebesnyk (Jr.), Vadim Kharabaruk, Ruslan Tremba and Victor Melnychuk.
The exhibition will run for 2 weeks.
