Uzhgorod celebrated the 1025th anniversary of the Baptism of Kyiv Rus quietly, but elegantly and with singing.
On this occasion, the concert of sacred music took place at the Uzhgorod castle. Two most famous Transcarpathian groups – the chamber choir "Cantus" and the Transcarpathian Honoured Academic Folk Choir sang in the courtyard for not too many visitors.
"Cantus", as usual, showed a sophisticated repertoire – the best pieces of sacred music – and flawless performance. In particular, they performed pieces by Leontovich, Arhhangelsky, Rachmaninoff.
In short breaks the host reminded: the baptism of Kyiv Rus affected to a large extent the development of culture and art, in particular, music. After an impressive performance of amazing "Cantus", the group of the Transcarpathian folk choir came onto the stage. They performed mostly Ukrainian spiritual music, in particular, pieces by Bortnyansky and Telychko.
The evening ended with the Prayer for Ukraine by Lysenko.
Some people liked the concert so much that they filmed almost all the performances on smartphones…
