Fountains in Uzhgorod. Myth or Reality? (Photo)

The fountain in Irshava has started operating. It is couple of dozens years old, so now it needs reconstruction. 

However, according to the Inspector on Public Relations of Irshava city council Liana Demchik, currently, city officials are focused on repairing roads, housing, kindergartens and so on.

Therefore, the reconstruction of Irshava fountain will not be carried out this year. Yet, the city utilities managed to repair the water supply system, and with the assistance of businessman Mykhailo Barna to replace seats on decorative chairs that are arranged around the fountain bowls.

In Tyachiv and Mukachevo fountains are also operating.

In Uzhgorod they are operating too – in the little park near the office of the Security Service of Ukraine and near the regional statistics office. 

But, the defunct and abandoned fountain in front of the Musical and Drama Theater, which once was the decoration of the city, is sleeping "dead". Its fate is still unknown. Last year, in April, during the on-site press conference, the Mayor of Uzhgorod Victor Pogorelov announced intentions to restore the old fountain near the city council building, where the flower bed is now located, within a year. And also, to arrange two fountains on Teatralna square…

It is 2013. The flowerbed continues to flourish, and Teatralna square, excited in anticipation of the fountain, became wavy. In short, all words no actions…
