Uzhgorod ranked among the top 10 cities for walking in Ukraine

Car portal AutoTravel compiled the rating of the best cities for walking in Ukraine. The list also includes the regional center of Transcarpathia – Uzhgorod.
In order to absorb and know the city, it is necessary to walk its streets and courtyards, touching its walls and doors, sit in its coffee shops, breathe the sweet air of parks and alleys. AutoTravel.ua tells about the cities of Ukraine which are most interesting to take a walk in.
As for Uzhgorod, the rating authors published the following essay.
Charming city of Uzhgorod, which lies on the banks of the Uzh river, is the heart of Transcarpathia.Uzhgorod is one of the oldest cities in Ukraine, as the first mention of it appears in the Hungarian chronicle dated from 872. The most interesting landmark of the city is the Uzhgorod Castle, built in 1384 on a hill. The most interesting places for promenades are the streets of the old town and the embankments on both sides of the Uzh where hundreds of Japanese cherry trees blossom in May.
Recently, cute little sculptures by architect Mykhailo Kolodko began to appear on the railing of the pedestrian bridge, on Teatralna Square and elsewhere. Among them there are figures of the Soldier Schweik, the famous composer Franz Liszt, small Mikolajczyk, the Carpathia ship and other figures. You can go for a walk, setting out to find them all.
In the city, there are a lot of places where you can taste delicious homemade wine and unsurpassed Transcarpathian cuisine, and coffee in Uzhgorod, as famous writer Taras Prokhasko once wrote, is the most delicious in Ukraine.
It should be noted that, besides the regional center of Transcarpathia, the rating also includes Lviv, Chernivtsi, Ternopil, Odesa, Kamyanets-Podilsky, Ivano-Frankivsk, Sevastopol, Yalta and Kyiv.
