“I’ll take that towel …” (PHOTOS)

Traditional handmade towels will never go out of style, Transcarpathian masters are convinced. If low-lying areas are dominated by floral motifs, mountaineers prefer strict graphic designs.  Embroideress from Mizhhirya Hanna Rushchak picked up a needle and colored thread and embroidered her first towel only five years ago. Today, their number is difficult to count.

"Obviously, the love and the gift of embroidery is passed to a person with genes – Mrs Hanna says. – Somehow I quickly learned several techniques which now I combine on one towel". 

Two large and one small towel in a month – at this rate, Mrs. Hanna fulfills orders. And there are a lot of them, because she mostly embroiders wedding towels.   

"In the summer the rate is slightly decreased –the embroideress says laughing – because I also have household work to do.But in long winter evenings I enjoy putting stitch by stitch and thinking about the people who will appreciate my work and begin their life together under my towels."
