The RSA say that Transcarpathian schools will be disconnected from gas supply

The priority of the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Program of Transcarpathian region is the efficient use of energy and budget funds saving, in particular, by means of switching to alternative energy sources.  The director of the Department of Housing, Construction and Infrastructure of the Regional State Administration Victor Lukecha told about the possibilities of alternative fuels using.

– During the past years we have achieved significant savings in the use of gas as the region started using autonomous heating systems. Now we are developing opportunities for use of environmentally friendly fuels. In particular, the Institute of Industrial Ecology inspected boilers at schools in Transcarpathia to determine the possibility of using alternative fuels to reduce gas consumption at the existing boiler rooms. The Institute provided the report on the feasbility and possible use of alternative fuel – pellets – in educational establishments.

Being environmentally friendly and economical is the main advantages of pellets over other sources of heat. Preliminarily we have identified 37 schools and one kindergarten for the project. Projected savings on fuel amount to 3.2 million.  We will do everything we can so that in some of those schools they start using pellets already in this year’s heating season. The existing gas boilers will be used as backup heating source. The feasibility study will soon be ready. After its approval, the project documentation will be developed. Then we can talk specifically about the estimated cost of the project. The implementation of these measures is planned in the framework of state and private partnership, – Victor Lukecha said.

Fuel pellets are pellets in the form of cylinders (typically 8 mm), which are made of shavings, sawdust, agricultural residues (straw, sunflower husks) and some types of peat. It is a natural product that allows you to receive thermal energy without polluting the environment. Carbon emissions during their use are minimal.
