The Vice Rector of UzhNU was caught red-handed

May 20, the regional police detained the Vice Rector of Uzhgorod National University while receiving more than 43,000 UAH of improper advantage.

It was found out that in the administrative building of the History Faculty of Uzhgorod National University, the Vice Rector of the University received from a resident of Transcarpathia an improper advantage in the significant amount in excess of 43,000 UAH. For this money, 44-year-old scientist promised the Transcarpathian not to initiate the issue of early termination of the lease agreement with his entrepreneur wife concerning the canteen, located at the University. Upon receiving this money, the Vice Rector was exposed at the scene by officers of the Office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in Transcarpathian region.

During the inspection of the scene, conducted with the use of video recording, they seized the object of improper advantage – the cash in excess of 43,000 UAH.

Investigation Department of the Office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in Transcarpathian registered the crime in the Unified register of pre-trial investigations as a criminal offense under Part 1 of Art. 14, Part 3 of Art. 368 of Criminal Code of Ukraine. The suspect was arrested in the order of Art. 208 of the CPC of Ukraine. Prosecutor’s office ensured control over the pretrial investigation.
