Transcarpathian officials want to overfulfill the plan of presidential reforms, but in a rather interesting way.
Recently the Head of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration Oleksandr Ledyda approved the plan for fulfillment of the Decree of the President of Ukraine dated March 12, 2013 "On the National Action Plan for 2013 to implement the Program of economic reforms "Prosperous society, competitive economy, effective government."
Thus, according to Ledyda’s order, in order to improve the quality of passenger service on the railways, it was proposed to "identify together with the local authorities lists of new commuter train stops, that need to be built in 2014 – 2018 in cities with a population of over 150,000 residents" – the document says.
According to the Department of Statistics, the largest city in Transcarpathian region is Uzhgorod where more than 116,400 people reside. In Transcarpathia, there is not a single city with a population over 150,000.
