In the village of Zarichchya in Irshava district where everyone grows early vegetables, greenhouses for which cover 400 hectares, Marina Sherehi took up another job. She grows flowers.
She says she gave up Zarichchya cabbage for two reasons: firstly, her garden is too small for vegetables, and, secondly, well, she just loves flowers. And already for six seasons, in her greenhouses not only green has been dominating, as at the neighbors: here colors change almost every week. And let the weather not upset you, in Ms. Marina’s greenhouses, a real spring reigns. Actually, flowers appeared there even before the onset of calendar spring …
Flower season has its own laws and it continues even in winter, when outside of greenhouses the nature is asleep. What is blooming now, began in August and September, "We sow "lady’s delight" (as we call it, but scientific name is "viola"), and in October it is in pallets. Then, when it reaches a certain size, we plant it in pots where it will grow until blooming. In January we sow summer flowers: verbena, salvia, lobelia …" – the florist says.
Marina Sherehi says: all flowers are beautiful, but admits that she especially loves gerbera – it is beautiful, but not demanding. Marina says that in the floriculture they use only Dutch seeds and some modern technology. The soil is enriched with peat, and they take great care to shape the plant: at various stages of its development they transplant it in suitable containers, add fertilizers and care about the climate and proper watering.
