Azarov commented on the threat of flooding: Transcarpathia is not ready, Shcherbey must be replaced with someone more responsible

In his opening remarks at the government meeting on March 27, 2013, the Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov named Transcarpathia among several regions that are not ready to floods, and ordered to replace "the official in charge" in the region with a more responsible person.

"Today it is clear that the weather that brought unprecedented mass of snow makes special demands to preparations for flooding.

The snow will soon begin to melt.

This is the threat of major flooding and possible flooding of settlements. And this threat should be minimized in advance …

Every hour is precious. We must meet flood fully prepared …

According to the available information, Zhytomyr, Transcarpathian, Odesa, Ternopil, Khmelnytsky regions are not ready to floods.

I demand to prepare reports on officials in charge of these regions and ensure that the preparations for floods were managed by responsible persons who are able to promptly correct the situation," – Azarov said.

In Transcarpathia it is Miroslav Shcherbey who is the Head of the State Emergencies Service of of Ukraine.
