Already six candidates for the Transcarpathian regional council in the constituency number 51 (Uzhgorod district) have withdrawn their candidacies in favor of the nominee of the united opposition Ivan Biben. Late last week, Yaroslav Shpishak, a representative of the party "Union of Left Forces" and the candidate of "Ukrainian Social-Democrats" Vasyl Kovacs (pictured) quit the election.
"Today Ivan Biben is a worthy rival of the ruling party’s nominees. Moreover, ordinary people over two years have become disappointed with politicians of the ruling party, they are tired of lawlessness and lack of action, promises of better life. So I decided to withdraw my candidacy in favor of Ivan Ivanovich. We all have to support the strongest candidate who is known and respected in the district, who is aware of the problems in each village and has a vision how to solve them", – Vasyl Kovacs commented on his decision.
