Leaders of the the region congradulated defenders of the Fatherland

Today, February 21, in the Transcarpathian Ukrainian Music and Drama Theater there was the solemn meeting dedicated to the Day of Defender of the Fatherland.

In the lobby, the participants could see the exhibition of modern weapons, equipment, special tools as well as models of weapons and military equipment of World War II period. On the square in front of the Drama Theater, special forces, including the "Berkut", border guard detachment, reconnaissance company of the regiment were able to demonstrate their skills.

Military commissar of the Transcarpathian Regional Military Commissariat, the head of the Uzhgorod garrison, Colonel Ivan Vasyltsyun opening the ceremony event, congratulated all on the occasion, noting that it is a holiday of respect and honor for those who serve their country now, and those who defended it throughout history. He also told about the achievements of the army, outlined its prospects.

Regional council chairman Ivan Baloha also greeted the audience.

Ivan Baloha thanked all the brave men in uniform, who serve the cause of preserving peace at home and abroad, are ready to defend all that they hold dear, boldly meeting the challenges of the present time. 

In conclusion, he congratulated those present on the occasion. He wished them broad and easy road of life, happiness and harmony, clear sky and confidence in the future. 

"Let there be peace, serenity, joy, understanding, exuberance and grace in your homes! Many happy years to you! "- Ivan Baloha said and performed a pleasant mission – presented the best of the best with awards of the Regional Council.

The ceremony was also attended by the governor Oleksandr Ledyda: "Dear generals, officers, ensigns, sergeants, soldiers and veterans, on behalf of the regional administration, let me congratulate you on the occasion of the holiday of valor, courage and patriotism. It is a celebration of our fathers and grandfathers, who defended the country during WWII. Celebration of present day defenders who guard the interests of Ukraine and its citizens. So, today, I wish you inspiration and success in the noble cause of serving the Ukrainian people and the Ukrainian state."

After the official part of the celebrations for the participants held a gala concert.
