On Wednesday, February 6, there was the briefing regarding the first round of the Championship of Ukraine and club competition in alpine racing "Winter peaks 2013" to be held in Volovets district.
According to the director of the Department of Education and Science, Youth and Sports of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration Marianna Klyap, the competition will be held on 8 and 9 February on the Veretsky Pass. For the first time the race will take place not on Lviv side of the pass, but in Transcarpathia.
The safety during the race will be ensured by the police amd medics.
The distance of the racing route is 2,700 meters. The track has 9 right and 10 left turns, the elevation is 116 meters. Since such competitions will be held on this Carpathian track for the first time, novices and veterans will be on equal terms. Last time the rally-sprint was held here back in 2008.
According to organizers, 30 teams from all over Ukraine will be competing for the title of the best racer. Among the most renown participants of the competition are Volodymyr Petrenko, Mykhailo Servetnyk and Serhiy Nimets.
On Friday, February 8, race car drivers will be able to register and conduct training drives. The next day there will be qualifying races and the competition.
The second round of the race will be held April 19-20, also in Transcarpatnian region (the village of Uzhok, the Užocký pass).
