From early morning today, January 29, Uzhgorod streets and sidewalks again have turned into a skating rink. At night there was snow, then a little frost, and in the morning rush hour the entire city was overwhelmed with traffic jams, accidents, and pedestrians trying not to break their arms and legs.
Sidewalk cleaning is in full responsibility of the owners and occupiers of nearby houses, offices and shops, so the situation is very patchy – somewhere it is clean, in other places it is not. Perhaps the largest rink is near the bus stop on Koryatovich square. Thank God, the temperature rises and the ice and snow on Uzhgorod streets again will be gone without the help of public utilities and city hall.
