Today in Ukraine, tax pressure on salaries is 56%, while in Germany – only 30%, and in Sweden, a country with some of the highest taxes in the world, – 46%.
Expert of the analytical agency "Mamay-Institute" Maria Semikoz argues that high taxes is a key reason that prevents domestic employers to increase salaries for the citizens.
In addition, the expert says, in return for paid taxes Swedes receive real social protection and quality health insurance. And in Ukraine every wage increase, due to high fiscal pressure, entails significant tax increase without a real social impact.
Significant monopolization of capital creates the conditions under which employees have no chance to find other job, and monopolies are discouraged to raise wages.
Recall, that according to experts, today the majority of Ukrainians earn just enough to buy food.
