“Bloody” Festival

The best cookers, producers of gastronomic products of Transcarpathia and guests from abroad are awaiting for the butchers’ festival, without which it is difficult to imagine Transcarpathian Festival season in January. The festival offers to taste culinary products of private producers.

Early in the morning teams of butchers or genteshes will gather in front of the village council where they will be treated with hot wine and homemade plum brandy (palenka).

Date of the Festival: January 26, 2013 Place: Village Gecha, Berehovo district. Time: from early morning to late evening.

According to the estimates of Turinform Transcarpathia experts and compilers of annual ranking of the top tourist enterprises in Transcarpathia, this festival is unique because it demonstrates the opportunity to see the ancient national traditions associated with ritual cutting of pigs and pork cooking. Masters from Ukraine and EU countries will show the best traditions of cooking.
