December 16th, about 18.00 hours in the village of Demechi in Uzhgorod district, two young pedestrians, 13 and 8 years old, were run over and, with injuries, admitted to the hospital.
As the traffic police officers found out, the driver of the car "VAZ-2105", moving towards the town of Chop, had hit the girls who were walking on the sideline. He stopped in a few meters, got out, looked at the children who were lying on the road, sat in the car and fled.
With evidence of concerned citizens, traffic police of Uzhgorod district within minutes established the identity of the driver. Within an hour he was found. Having left his car at one of the gas stations, he tried to escape by his friend’s car to avoid responsibility.
Now the 28-year-old driver is giving testimony to the police, the car is placed on the impound lot – informed the Traffic Police Office of MIA of Ukraine in Transcarpathian region.
