As uzhgorod.in already informed, the pavement removed from Shvabska street was stacked at the parking lot at the intersection of Hoyda and Sobranetska streets.
As the Mayor Victor Pogorelov explained in his telephone comment to uzhgorod.in, the only reason for that is to preserve the ashlar.
"The parking lot is guarded round the clock. Nobody charges money for the storage, it is ridiculous to assume such things! By the way, in that part of the parking lot, where the pavement is stored, (consider it as a gift to the city) for years Uzhgorod residents have been parking their cars for free."
The Mayor said that the pavement – the old "Czech checker" – next year will be used to pave the historic center of the city. And sidewalks on Shvabska street will not be paved with this ashlar, but with paving slab.
"Currently the "architectural coordination" is carried out" – the mayor said. According to the Department of Municipal Economy, the area of the pavement, which used to be on Shvabska street, comprises over 5,000 square meters.
