On Wednesday, October 17, a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine, Honored Artist of Ukraine Ivan Ilko, showed his best paintings. As the artist noted, they are documentary:
– Who else but we, Transcarpathians, can recreate the beauty of our Carpathians, not just draw but "reflect" on canvas our countrymen’s soul. Our mission is to promote ethnic identity, because it’s our roots – said Ivan Ilko.
The paintings are exhibited in the new building on the Koshitska street, which, the initiators hope, soon will become a center of artistic life of Uzhgorod and Transcarpathia in general.
– We initiated the project with the idea that this building would become the center of artistic life in the region. This is a modern building, the only of its kind in Transcarpathia. The analogues are "Pinchuk Art Center" and the Art Arsenal in Kyiv, – said the curator of the Transcarpathian center Victor Mihalysko.
According to the organizers, the opening of the gallery will be held in late October – early November. By that time the name will be determined – reported the press center of RSA.
