Right now in the showroom of Transcarpathian museum of architecture in Uzhgorod an exhibition of origami works and photos thereof is being held. Authors of the exhibits are creative tandem of mother and daughter, Oksana Libak and Oksana Shufrych.
Oksana Libak has created over 5000 origamis. Head of the "Geometric Modeling" group in Transcarpathian regional center of scientific and technical creativity of youth participated in exhibitions in Poltava, Kyiv and Kharkiv. Since 2006, she teaches children how to make their own paper figures and classic Japanese kusudamas – balls and polyhedra, which are made of paper flowers, rosettes and other parts.
"In the East, the art of origami symbolizes peace, tranquility and family hearth. In today’s world it is an international concept. Origamis are shown at festivals, exhibitions, seminars, publications, catalogs, etc. Today in Ukraine there is no official association of origami makers, in other states such organizations exist. Our origami is inspired by all that is in our Ukrainian soul. This art enriches us, develops intelligence, thinking, memory, spatial imagination, volitional efforts, finger motility.
The idea to do a joint exhibition originated spontaneously. The daughter has been doing photography for a longtime and sees other aspects in my work, that might not relate to technique, thus complementing the exhibition."
The exhibition of unusual geometric designs with paper will be open until the 11th of October.
