Day of Uzhgorod will celebrated for four days (PROGRAM)

In Uzhgorod Press Club the meeting concerning the celebration of the Day of the City, which starts already this weekend was held. 

Yevhen Bobrov, head of the Department of Culture, Sport, Youth and Family of Uzhgorod City Council revealed the detailed information about the program of this year’s festivity.

According to him, every hour in the city center there will be a certain event of the previously published program. Among them there will be sporting and entertainment events, musical and dance performances. These days the traditional fair "Golden Autumn" will take place on Fedynets st. 

A festive procession, led by "one of the Druget princes" on horseback will embellish the city. Following him – costumed characters from Uzhgorod history, mayor, governor, deputies, honorary citizens of the city. The procession will begin on September 29 at 15.00. The promenade will go along the route:  Kapitulna str. – Voloshin str. – Korzo str. –  Nezalezhnist embankment –  Uralska str. – Poshtova sqr. At the end of the route everyone will come to the city council building for the grand city council to present this year’s awards to honorary citizens (candidates will be approved by members of the city council on Thursday, September 27). 

On Saturday evening the concert for the Day of the City will be held with the participation of Honored Artist of Ukraine Oleksandr Sadvariy, singer Yaroslava  (Kyiv), Denis Lyubimov  (Kyiv), winner of the international song contests Ayrety (Nigeria), groups of Transcarpathian Regional Palace for Children and Youth "Padiyun", medieval historical reenactment club "Sword of Orion" The concert starts at 19.00 on Poshtova Sq.   

On Sunday, a festive liturgy for the Day of the City in Horyany rotunda will be held (the beginning is at 10.00).
