For the second time in a row Uzhgorod became the capital of the Ukrainian fencing. Like the last year, the national championship is held in sports complex "Yunist". Today, the opening of the tournament took place. Participants were welcomed by the the governor Oleksandr Ledyda, sports functionaries of the region and Petro Azarchenkov, vice president of the Fencing Federation of Ukraine, who wished the successful launch of the new Olympic season. At the Olympic Games, which took place this summer, Ukraine’s national team won a golden (Yana Shemyakina, sword) and a bronze (Olga Harlan, saber) awards in fencing. By the way, both athletes are expected in Uzhgorod.
After a brief opening ceremony the fencers started the tournament. In total the tournament will last 8 days and will end on October 3.
