In Uzhgorod the Monastery of the Basilian sisters was consecrated

On September 16, several hundred believers gathered for the dedication of the monastery. This event was attended by Basilian nuns from Mukachevo diocese, from Slovakia, from Lviv together with the Provincial Superior Sister Mykolaya, sisters from Rome with General Superior Sister Miriam.

Bishop Milan consecrated a statue of the Virgin, which was brought by pilgrims from Medjugorje and then the chapel of the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary, the premises of the monastery and the interior chapel of the Sacred Heart of Jesus were consecrated. Then began the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy at the recently consolidated field throne. 14 priests were concelebrating together with Bishop Milan. Sacred liturgy was accompanied by the Cathedral Choir of Blessed Theodore.

In his remarks, the Bishop expressed his hope that the monastic community would constantly experience meetings with the merciful Creator and His Son – Jesus Christ risen and this mercy the sisters would eventually transfer to all wounded souls around. Also he expressed gratitude to all known and anonymous donors who over the years have helped financially to build a monastery.

From now on this parish at the monastery will be active.
