This time we have reached the Ukrainian center of Hungarian culture – Beregovo. It is a clean, beautiful city, full of flower beds, but it leaves an ambiguous impression of aftertaste: Beregovo as other cities of Transcarpathia, has felt a different eras breathe: the Austro-Hungarian, Czechoslovak, Soviet.
Therefore, although the one before last century architecture dominates in the center of Beregovo, the Soviet “boxes” still strike our eyes. Thus, along with interesting and historical monuments, there are dissonant Soviet monuments too. This ensemble is completed by colorful, outrageous and sometimes even illiterate signs.
