The fight against gambling business in Transcarpathia is still one of the most urgent problems for the law enforcement officers. The participants of the interdepartmental meeting on the status of compliance with the Law of Ukraine ‘On Prohibition of Gambling Business in Ukraine’ emphasized on this in The Transcarpathian Prosecutor’s Office yesterday, July 9.
Despite the measures taken on the territory of region the violations of indicated law have become systematic and widespread by nature and the carried out work by law enforcement agencies in this direction is insufficient and requires a significant revitalization.
Some business entities continue to be engaged in illegal gambling business by getting income from this.
The Forbidden gambling business often operates under the guise of interactive clubs, in which access to the internet is offered, to the sites where it is possible to play in gambling games, and if you are winning, the cashier pays cash.
72 applications and reports of crimes received the Regional Ministry of Internal Affairs during January-June 2012, in accordance with the results of examination the refusal to initiate criminal proceedings got 58 cases and only against eight statements and reports were initiated criminal proceedings.
It has been removed 174 slot machines, 23 system blocks on which was installed a game designed for gambling and one roulette since the beginning of the year as a result conducted monitoring by the law enforcement bodies of the region.
As a result, the participants of interdepartmental meeting decided to organize and conduct inspections with the involvement of supervisory authorities and law enforcement bodies, members of education departments of district administrations in the interactive and computer clubs, Internet clubs and Internet cafes, which are located on the territory of the region.
