20th anniversary of Holy Trinity Monastery of St. Cyril and Methodius in Transcarpathia

On Tuesday, June 5, the Head of Regional State Administration Oleksandr Ledida took part in celebrating the 20th anniversary of foundation of St. Trinity-Cyril and Methodius Monastery. In particular, the head of the region visited a celebratory Divine Liturgy and talked with the priests, – the press center of State Regional Administration informs.

The decision to open St. Cyril and Methodius nunnery in Svalyava of Transcarpathian region was made on September 16, 1992. It was then that the decree of the Holy Synod of Ukrainian Orthodox Church came to the world. And in April 1997, the foundation of the main temple of the Holy Trinity Monastery was built and sanctified.

Today, 19 nuns are living and carrying out the monastic obedience in the monastery. The Mother Superior Nina has been the abbess of the monastery since 1996.

Celebration of the 20th anniversary of the founding of St. Trinity-Cyril and Methodius Monastery began with the celebrative Divine Liturgy, served by the Archbishop of Mukachevo and Uzhgorod, His Eminence Theodore. After the service people had the opportunity to talk with the head of the region Alexander Ledida.

– The power cannot and should not affect religious processes. Moreover, we have a lot of patrons-believers who do not spare money for the development of the monasteries and churches – said Alexander Ledida during the visit to the monastery.
