A Czech sentenced to 8 years for drug trafficking

On May 18, Rakhiv District Court convicted a Czech citizen on illegal production, storage and trafficking of drugs (Art.307 Part 3 of Criminal Code of Ukraine), the head of the control department over special units of law enforcement and other agencies, involved in fighting organized crime in the regional prosecution office, Alexander Andrishin informed. During the search of the house where the Czech lived, in the village of Serednye Vodyane in Rakhiv district, law enforcement officers found and seized 19,600 grams of marijuana and 878 bushes of this narcotic plants. Total value of the drugs seized is almost 2 million hryvnia.
The citizen of the Czech Republic, living in Transcarpathia, acted in an organized criminal group that included three other people – all citizens of the Czech Republic have been living and carrying out their criminal activity in this country, so there they have been brought to justice also here. The drug dealer was sentenced to eight years in prison with confiscation of property. However, the verdict has not yet entered into force. The convict still has time to appeal the verdict.
In addition, recently, prosecutor’s office of Transcarpathian region has approved the indictment and submitted the case against another criminal group of 4 people to the Mukachevo city district court. They are accused of committing offenses under Art. 307 Part 2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Last year they organized a criminal group and were selling extremely dangerous drugs to the inhabitants of Transcarpathian region – the press service of the prosecution office of Transcarpathian region said.
