Khust officials “earned” 400 000 hryvnia at dump

As a result of prosecutorial inspection, on May 18, a Khust interdistrict prosecutor filed a criminal case against the city council officials and the company-contractor upon the abuse of power or position, forgery, misappropriation and malpractice (Art. 364 Part 2, Art. 366 Part 2, Art. 191 Part 5 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

According to the Khust Inter-District Attorney Ivan Kailo, prosecutors have inspected the use of budget funds while implementing the landfill recultivation in Khust. It is established that the official persons of the private enterprise, which was carrying out the work under the contract with Khust City Council, intentionally, in order to assign the budget, included 700 thousand UAH in the report as the expenses for the performed work.

However, during the prosecutor’s inspection, with the participation of the construction Chief State Comptroller of the State Financial Inspection in Transcarpathian region, control measuring of the landfill in Khust has been carried out. It was found that the data on the performance of work in excess of 400 thousand UAH did not correspond reality, the work of recultivation of the landfill has not been properly carried out, and the budget money has been paid unreasonably. The findings have become a pretext for the criminal case, which is currently being under pre-trial investigation.
