24 foreigners got a temporary residence permit in the region

Since the beginning of the year 24 foreigners, who appealed to the General Directorate of State Migration Service in Transcarpathian region, received a temporary residence permit in Ukraine, – says Olga Poshtak, chief specialist of Public Relations and Media General Directorate of Migration Service of Ukraine (MSU) in Transcarpathian region.

In particular, this document, valid for 1 year, based on the new edition of the Law "On legal status of foreigners and stateless persons" was given to nine foreign religious workers (6 Germans and 3 Slovaks), who arrived in Transcarpathian region to carry out canonical activities at the invitation of the religious communities in the region.

It was also given to 10 foreigners having work permits in the enterprises of the region (3 – Polish citizens,  to two citizens from France, two from China one citizen of Germany, one – of Russia and one more – of Turkey). In addition, according to the head of the State Directorate of MSU in Transcarpathian region Igor Mikhaylishin, temporary residence permit is valid for one year (with possibility of extension), in accordance with the new version of the above mentioned Law, and now it can be granted to the foreigners and stateless persons who arrive in Ukraine with the purpose of family reunion. Previously, citizens of other countries, whose period of marriage to citizens of Ukraine was less than two years, had to follow regularly the process of registration. Now this process is easier.

Foreign students make a separate group to document the identity for a temporary residence permit in Ukraine. They are provided with the license for a period of study at university. The same is for the foreigners and stateless persons who work within the framework of international technical assistance. For this category of persons the residence permit is issued for the duration of the project. At present, the regional migration service issued the relevant documents to five volunteers, USA Peace Corps volunteers, who take part in the project "Teaching English as a Foreign Language."
