Party of Regions offers to raise the excise duty on beer by 6 times

The member of the Party of Regions Pavlo Klymets decided to realize the presidential social initiatives for beer lovers expenses. He proposed to abruptly increase the excise duty on this product, informs the publication Biznes.

The registered legislation provides the excise rates increase by 5.6 times up to 4,6 hryvnia per liter in the recalculation on 100% alcohol content in product. Currently the rate is 0,81 hryvnia.

The author of the idea calculated that the implementation of this initiatives will replenish the budget for 5.6 billion hryvnia, which is 3,6 billion hryvnia more than it was received this year and it will align the beer industry sector with alcoholic beverages in the part of the budget revenue. At the same time he believes that the increasing will not significantly affect the retail trade, by ‘increasing’ beer by 10%.

In its turn, the Cabinet of Ministers offered the parliament to increase the state budget incomes and expenditures to 33.35 billion hryvnia in 2012 – this is the costs of the presidential initiatives.
