This device is worth a million dollars. It has no analogues in Ukraine. Rescuers use it to train in an environment of fire, where it is not possible to be without the proper equipment, as well as in the "fire and smoke simulating chamber." The temperature inside is 800 degrees above zero.
The weight of the "simulator" brought to Uzhgorod is 33 tones. Transcarpathian fire-fighters borrowed it for training only three days from the northern neighbors, who visited the capital of Transcarpathia in the framework of cross-border cooperation: Poland-Belarus-Ukraine.
This training machine generates the same amount of smoke which is formed within one hour after the inflammation of a house, maybe even more.
Pyotr Zavinovski – ML200 fire simulator operator – noted that "substances released into the environment are not harmful. It is just a propane, no worry."
By the way, trainings like this, only in other conditions, have been taking place for our rescuers during the summer. They were held within the EU grant project. In particular, they learned to cut vehicles that got in an accident and take out injured people from there and acquired the basics of actions on water bodies in emergency situations while driving a motor boat… They received documents of the European standard which give them right to work in relevant services abroad.
Gleb Burkovsky – the Deputy Head of the Office of the State Emergencies Service of Ukraine in Transcarpathian region, commenting on the price and weight of the truck (our roads are not adapted for traffic of such trucks), said that there was "an appropriate support and so far we have to train on the simulator, provided by the European Union."
Well nothing to add: we hope that some day we will be able to afford to buy such a smoke chamber. After all: to prevent an accident means to save lives and protect from the effects of a disaster… And this is the motto of the State Emergencies Service of Ukraine.
