Before the New Year and Christmas holidays, scammers are ready to cheat you out of your money
As the Pershij.com.ua found out from its own sources, on the eve of New Year holidays fraudsters have become more active. Night call – “Your child is in trouble. Need money. Now!” – the scheme is old and everyone seems to know about it. Yet parental instincts often drown out common sense. And people give their money.
A similar incident occurred with an 80-year-old woman who was called and told that her grandson was in hospital. He ran over a woman and needed the money to settle the issue.
"I’ll call your mom now. And after these words, the man hanged up the phone. However, I cannot even begin to tell what I went through during the conversation,” – Mrs. Marina says.
Therefore, in order not to become a victim of a fraud, it is necessary to follow the basic rules of safety. First, do not panic or hurry to do what scammers say. In such cases, never call your loved ones by name. Ask the person who introduced themselves as a relative to tell the last name, first name, patronymic, and date of birth of a relative, as well as any personal information that outsiders cannot know. And most importantly, do not give in to your own emotions, because people at the other end of the line are real psychologists who know that it is easier to manipulate a person in a panic.
