Winter vacation of Transcarpathians: where and how much?

Winter this year has not yet shown its harsh character in Transcarpathia, but fans of active recreation still have the opportunity to go in for winter sports at the ski resorts. And if tourists from other regions and countries go to Transcarpathia, Transcarpathians themselves are keen to visit other countries.

So, where did Transcarpathians go to this winter season? To find out, we ask the professionals – travel agencies of Uzhgorod. This time our interviewee is Inesa Pradid, the manager of the travel agency "Farwater"

According to her, those Transcarpathians, who prefer warm sea and beaches, mostly go to Asian countries. Those are, first of all, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Indonesia. Now, it is a wonderful season there – warm, not too much rains, and the tourist infrastructure is well developed. The prices for such tours range from $ 1500-2000 per ten days / nights. 

– And what about traditional Egypt?

 – Of course, it is always popular, but now the sea in Egypt is quite cool. You can swim, of course, but still the season is not the most comfortable.  Therefore, now the prices are moderate, 7 days in a four-star hotel on the beach will cost about 350 USD. 

However, many tourists traveling abroad try to make the most use of the winter season. The choice is wide, so Transcarpathians go skiing to the Czech Republic and Slovakia: they are attracted by wonderful resorts and trails, for example, in the High Tatras. Seven days of stay in a mountain hotel costs about 400 euros. In Austria, it is a little more expensive – 500 euros or more per week.     

Many people take advantage of short-term (3-4 days) bus tours to ski resorts, the cost of such a trip for weekend ranges from 150 euros.

– Last year, many Transcarpathians took excursion bus tours to Europe…

– This trend continued this year. The most popular route is two European capitals – Budapest-Vienna. Just 50 euros, 3-4 days tour…

– Vienna opera…

– (laughs) Well, if you want – yes. But tickets at your own expense…

Of course, Transcarpathians go further too. The most popular bus tours are 6 days to Paris and Rome. The cost is 150 euros or more.

And those, who can afford this, this year choose the so-called exotics. This year, many people from Uzhgorod traveled to the Dominican Republic. The journey for two costs 3500 euros or more. There are wonderful conditions for vacationers there – luxury hotels, excellent infrastructure, animators and more.

Also, the travel agency "Farwater" this year provided tours to the Maldives.   

As for the general tendencies, it is worth noting that the economic situation did not affect the number of people wanting to rest abroad. No agency will disclose exact numbers, of course, but they correlate with the last year’s ones. It is also worth noting that many people plan vacations in advance using early booking. It is cheaper and more convenient.

By the way, now Uzhgorod residents are already actively booking summer tours.
