Will the Uzhgorod fountain on Poshtova square survive the winter? (PHOTOS)

Although the fountain was opened only on September 27, it is already crumbling.

The fountain was opened a little over a month ago. But it began to crumble not now. Back on October 1, Mukachevo.net wrote about this nasty trend. Then, the sun was shining and the weather was nice. Now it is rainy, and the cold will come soon. We can only guess how the design will respond to such weather conditions. However, at the current pace, the new fountain in Uzhgorod is not goign to last until spring.

The decorative marble coating is peeling off from all sides began of the fountain. In some places, you can eve seen iron rods.
The cost of the construction of the fountain, by the way, was 400,000 UAH. These funds, as reported by the City Council, were provided by some Uzhgorod entrepreneurs. The Mayor Victor Pogorelov, hinted that he also was one of the sponsors.

As for the causes of the damage, obviously, it’s all about the rush. The Mayor was fanatically trying to open the fountain for the birthday of the city. So it was finished literally in the last days. Some people suggest money laundering.

It reminds the story of the construction of Uzhgorod station, which was also built with haste before the arrival of the then still Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych and the Transport Minister Heorhiy Kirpa in 2004. The repair of the station took 180 million hryvnias, and in 2005, the ceiling in one of the passages collapsed.
