A few days ago, huge queues at the checkpoint "Luzhanka" almost disappeared. Recall that previously people had to wait there 5-6 days to get to Hungary. And about a third of them were sent back for some small infraction. For example, due to the lack of a bandage in the first aid kit.
There have been no more queues during the past week. Because at the entrance to Hungary, documents are now checked by representatives of the countries where Ukrainians are going to – the Czech Republic, Italy, Austria… They check work, rent permits, etc. This information quickly spread, and people who need to go abroad are now traveling through the Romanian checkpoints.
– The queues have decreased simply because people have stopped traveling. We have no influence on the presence or absence of queues. They are caused by thorough document checks by the Hungarian side. This takes a long time, and because the influx is quite large, queues are formed. And the influx is caused by the fact that before the pandemic there were 11 checkpoints at the border in Transcarpathia, and as of today there are only 5 checkpoints that allow citizens to transit. Those are "Luzhanka", "Tisa" on the Hungarian border, "Solotvyno" on the Romanian, and "Uzhgorod" on the border with Slovakia. The rest allow citizens to go only within the 30 km zone for no longer than 24 hours, – the spokeswoman for the Mukachevo Border Guard Detachment, Lesya Fedorova noted.
