Last year, the unemployment rate in Transcarpathian region dropped to 7.9% of the working population. In 2011, it was 11.5%. This was announced by the Director of Social Welfare Department of Transcarpathian Regional State Administration Victor Matsola on the expanded board on the results of the last year.
In addition, the level of poverty in the region is 24.3%, while in Ukraine in general it is more than 30%. "We are wealthier than the rest of Ukraine", – the official stated.
Average salary of employees of companies involved in economics of the region at the end of 2012 was 2,195 UAH. The highest salaries are in Uzhgorod district. The lowest wages are in Beregovo, Svalyava, Irshava districts. Here, people on average earn barely more than 1,900 UAH.
The wage arrears in the region have also decreased – from 10.5 in 2011 by nearly three million hryvnias. Approximately 70% of the debt accounts for companies that are under bankruptcy.
In addition, Victor Matsola said that almost every third family in the region receive state support in the form of various benefits.
