The water level in the rivers of Ukraine, including the Dnieper, Pripyat and Desna will continue rising until the end of April.
This was informed by the head of the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center Victoria Boyko on April 13 during a briefing at the State Emergencies Service of Ukraine, the Ukrinform reported.
In the Carpathian rivers today precipitation caused the formation of another wave of water rise, which covered mountain part of the Dniester river basin, rivers of Transcarpathia, to a lesser extent – the Prut and the Seret basins. "But, water level rising will continue today and tomorrow, and in Transcarpathia it is expected that the water will release on the floodplain, particularly in Uzhgorod. On Latorica the water has for a long time been retained on the floodplain between dams, which does not constitute threat of flooding of settlements, but makes the organizations, that operate waterworks, work in an emergency mode"- V. Boyko added.
According to the forecast of V. Boyko, in Transcarpathia water levels today will continue rising, and tomorrow a gradual decline will begin without dangerous consequences, but on the Tisa, on the lower reaches of the Borzhava, and on the Latorica water levels will continue rising due to water flows from the tributaries and upper reaches of the river. Except for the release of water on the floodplain, for the next few days no other risks are expected in these areas.
