In Uzhgorod, the school №19 became the epicenter of a scandal. An unknown telephoned the police and reported that the school, where 255 children were taking test, was mined. By that time, students had been working on tests for more than 2 and a half hours. All, without exception, were evacuated out of the premises, bomb squad began to search the school. The rescuers found nothing.
One hour later, children were let into the classrooms, but only to submit their papers. Because the time for testing had expired, the papers must must have been submitted as they were at the time the report of "mining".
The students complain: there were already finishing papers, and now they will not be accepted. Another option is complete retake of of the test in Ukrainian language during an extra testing session.
Tetiana Palko, a representative of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Center for Evaluation of Education said that this is the first extraordinary situation in Transcarpathia during testing. "When the police came and told about mining, we evacuated students and the staff out of the building. Children left all their belongings and left the school. Theoretically, the children still had time to write tests, so they have the opportunity to take the test at an extra session. Those papers, that had been submitted before the announcement of mining, will be accepted and reciewed. The children, who had not finished their papers, should either submitt them as they are or write an application for taking the test testing during an extra session – Tetiana Palko said. – In my memory, there has not been any similar situation in Transcarpathia before, although in Ukraine such incidents have happened".
Currently the anonym, who "mined" the school, is being searched for by investigators of the regional police.
