The head coach of Uzhgorod "Goverla" Vyacheslav Grozny told about the first extended meeting of the working group which is developing a new format of the championship of Ukraine.
– I was the only coach at the meeting. It was not my initiative, I was delegated by the club. In my opinion, it was a very constructive, emotional creative meeting of the working group. We considered various options, took into account the opinion of TV people, clubs, different parties.
I have already described my idea and I stand by it. It is important to hear each other, we understand the interests of television, but I am convinced that you cannot reduce the number of teams. I do not want the number of teams to be cut to 12, it would mean that two teams must leave the Premier League and no one comes from the first league. What, then, did clubs in the first division play a whole season for?
Firstly, there is an example of "Olexandria" which shows a decent level of competitiveness. Secondly, the President of the PFL was present at the meeting, and he said that 5-6 teams of the first league were ready for this. Moreover, there is the Certifying and licensing working group examining top 6-8 teams of the first league and considering their compliance with the Premier League status (stadiums, conditions, financing, etc.).
The PFL President said that the teams, that would join the Premier League, would meet the standards. The teams are working for this goal. It would be not quite fair to take this opportunity from them. The television is interested in 12 teams, because it is probably easier to sell such product. But there are many nuances that must be taken into account. We must think of all clubs – "Football24" quoted Grozny.
