He barely needs to be introduced. The name of Volodymyr Mykyta, the patriarch of Transcarpathian art is known not only in Transcarpathia or Ukraine, but in the whole world.
His paintings are filled with sensuality and unique charm; the artistic embodiment of Transcarpathia. Transcarpathia is picturesque, generous, full of beautiful landscapes and hardworking people. The land is represented from the point of view of Mr Mykyta and as we see it in our dreams.
The exhibition dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the Master has been opened in the Transcarpathian Art Museum. Halls were overwhelmed with visitors. Works of different years hung on the walls, all reflecting the author’s skill and the soul of Transcarpathia.
It seems as though hundreds of people has come to congratulate the academician Mr Mykyta. Among them were elder artists, officials and students as well.
The official part was "under the watchful eye" of Béla Erdelyi and József Boksay, the classics and founders of the Transcarpathian Art Institute. They "observed" how the visitors congratulated their student, Mr Mykyta. Volodymyr Chebykin, the head of the Ukrainian Academy of Arts noted: "Despite the venerable age of Mr Mykyta, he is still heading for his peek in art. We can understand that it is still ahead from the fact that the master is still developing. Such people like Mr Mykyta are the basis of the art academy and the Ukrainian art in general. Their skill is imbued with the love towards the motherland." Then Mr Chebykin granted Volodymyr Vasylovych an award and the gratitude of the Academy for his achievements and priceless contribution into the development of the Ukrainian art.
Many pleasant words of admiration were addressed to the celebrated. For instance, Yanka Burianova, the General Consul of Slovakia in Uzhhorod entitled Volodymyr Mykyta as "the best Transcarpathian". The Transcarpathian folk choir congratulated the artist with the "Mnohaya lita" ("Many years") song. The other visitors joined the congratulation.
However, the greatest present has come from the master – an exhibition of over 80 canvases full of beauty, soul and Transcarpathia. It is interesting to note that the Master has selected the paintings himself. They correspond to his taste and belong to his own collection. Thus, the exhibition will be composed of works considered by the artist to be outstanding.
The must see exhibition in the Art Museum will continue for several weeks.
