Vasyl Fitsay: “My position as the village head – we need to launch an ecoproject and quickly dispose of all the spoil dumps”

Today, Muzhiyevo has the prospect of becoming a real tourist gem of Transcarpathia. However, there are a number of environmental problems that were left in the village by old enterprises that once were mining the Muzhiyevo deposit in the village. Those are spoil dumps that require immediate disposal.

"The village already has a solution – the new investor Avellana Gold is committed to dispose of waste dumps and to remedy the old environmental consequences of the "predecessors’" activities, – said Vasyl Fitsay, the head of the village of Muzhiyevo, the "Holos Karpat" reported.

"People are interested in our winemaking and food. We want to encourage investors to develop tourism, because the region has the potential. But what can tourists tell about Muzhiyevo, if everything they see here is the dumps that have been here for decades? Tourism industry requires clean environment, – Vasyl Fitsay says. Finally, thanks to the Avellana Gold, we can improve the ecology of the region." 

According to the village head, the deputies support the company. Because Avellana Gold, as an investor, and the "Carpathian ore company" have all documents in accordance with the law.

"My position as the village head – we need to launch this project and to dispose of all the spoil dump to stop further pollution of the territory. Avellana Gold is the only company in 13 years that came here with a real environmental project and wants to remove the dumps. They have clear plans", – Vasyl Fitsay comments.
