UzhNU: a unversity open to the community

On June 6, the Day of Journalist, the management of the main university of the region and the largest labour collective in Transcarpathia – Uzhgorod National University – initiated a meeting with media people. The aim was to discuss the life of the leading community in the region and how to achieve best possible goal. They talked about the widest possible range of topics related not only to higher education but to the life of the community in the region in general.

And, of course, they boasted a little bit. But not without a reason. In ratings of Ukrainian universities, the UzhNU now takes places between the 20th and the 30th. 

One of the main reason for progress is the development of international cooperation. The university indeed can be considered international. 

Thus, during the school year, about 150 students have been trained abroad (Hungary, Poland, Lithuania, Italy and Romania). Moreover, this year four university professors have successfully worked at foreign universities. And currently, about 450 students of UzhNU are citizens of other countries.

In addition to new challenges for teachers (in particular, they improve their knowledge of foreign languages), foreign cooperation in general is expanding. Thus, students of UzhNU now are more often accepted to European universities, the work in international programs continues.

And the development of international cooperation will continue: new specialties for foreign students will be introduced – in engineering and economic areas, as well as some legal specialties, and even at the Department of Physics.

Also, the main university of the region is developing the physical infrastructure and promises to surprise students with new updates in dormitories very soon.

Meanwhile, the management of UzhNU encourage the community of Uzhgorod and the region to communicate more closely with the university and its large staff.  UzhNU enthusiastically declares: it is a unversity open to the community!
