Uzhgorod residents litter, but won’t pay. “AVE” threaten to remove waste containers and impose fines

The joy about clean trash containers in Uzhgorod did not last long: today, 3 months after the establishment of the "AVE Uzhgorod" company, some containers are overfilled again.

The photo, taken a few days ago, depicts the waste containers near the Uzhgorod school № 6. This situation repeates every day, because not only the residents of several neighboring high rises bring waste there, but also the workers of many shops on Svoboda Avenue.

"We know about that problems – the head of the "AVE Uzhgorod" Maria Olenych told the "Stary Zamok". – But people should blame themselves. When we checked the neighboring houses, we found out that only a few people have contracts for trash removal."

The "AVE" say that Uzhgorod, unlike Mukachevo, turned out to be very "difficult" for the company. Within 3 months, only 42% of the city residents agreed to conclude contracts for waste removal. All the rest flatly refuse to pay for services, and legally it is very difficult to force them to do it.

"Among those who do not want to enter into an agreement with us there are well-known people: entrepreneurs, employees of the City Hall and other government institutions – Maria Olenych says. – Speaking about specific areas of the city, the biggest problems arise, strangely enough, in the historic center, where residents and had not previously had contracts, and now refuse to pay for garbage collection. "

In order to change this situation, the "AVE" want to start imposing fines. Soon, on the garbage sites of Mukachivska, Ruska, Bercheni and Luchkay streets, the company employees will post announcements that if the residents do not conclude agreements, those sites will be liquidated. Within April, they will take away the containers. And if the residents, "by old habbit" continue bringing wastes there, they will be awaited by representatives of the "AVE" and the municipal police.

Such measures will affect the entire city, first of all, private buildings neighbourhoods, where, in the opinion of the "AVE Uzhgorod" management, there should not be general garbage sites at all – only small containers near every house.
