As they reported in the emergency station of Uzhgorod city hospital, over the past day 32 people have been admitted there. Four of them were injured on the streets because of the bad weather and have fractures. As the physicians noted, damages are not serious and the condition of patients is currently stable.
The number of fractures recorded today during the snowfall will be counted in emergency station only tomorrow.
Meanwhile, doctors advise to be extremely careful on the roads because snow mush underfoot can easily cause fractures. No high heels or platforms and do not neglect winter shoes on a thick corrugated sole made of anti-slip materials, such as thermoplastic, similar to rubber. At home you can stick on the soles of boots a piece of foam or tape on the fabric base, wiping it with sand, glue or grate with waterproof sandpaper.
The physicians emphasize that one must also learn the right way to walk and fall. First of all, do not rush, walk in small steps, do not straighten your feet completely, keep a little bend in the knees. Step on the entire sole with a slight bent – thus you’ll be able to keep the balance. If the fall is unavoidable, try to "land" sideways on the hip, protecting stomach with hands – thus you will not break your forearm.
