Uzhgorod rescuers were teaching citizens how to safely bathe on Epiphany

On the eve of the grand celebration of Epiphany, Transcarpathian rescuers are conducting preventive conversations with people. On January 13, representatives of Uzhgorod city and district department of the State Emergencies Service conducted an informational campaign with residents of the regional center to increase public awareness about the rules of safe bathing on Epiphany.

Rescuers visited Botanichna embankment and talked to Uzhgorod residents – both fans of winter swimming and ordinary passers-by. They distributed leaflets and told which recommendations should be followed when diving in a hole.

In particular, rescuers advised citizens to temper the body on the eve of Epiphany, to choose a hole with a safe descent to the water and swim only in the presence of doctors and rescuers, in no way to drink alcohol before bathing, to do exercises before diving into the water, and to stay in the river no more than ten seconds, then to rub the body with a towel and dress warmly. And most importantly, people were encouraged to make sure that children do not dive into the icy water without adult supervision.

Finally, rescuers warned residents of Uzhgorod that on January 19 they would on duty in places determined by the municipal authorities for bathing on Epiphany. They will make sure that the holiday will take place without incidents for parishioners.
