July 8 marked 110 years since the birth of famous Ukrainian writer, cultural activist and educator Yuliy Borshosh-Kumiatsky. The memoty of the famous Transcarpathian was honored at the regional branch of the National Union of Writers of Ukraine.
The head of the NSPU branch, writer Vasyl Husti, literary critic Dmytro Fedaka, poet Vasyl Kukhta, as well as Yuliy Borshosh-Kumiatsky’s family members told about his life and invaluable contribution to the cultural development of the region.
Yuliy Borshosh (pen-name – Kumiatsky) was born in the village of Velyky Komiaty in Vynogradiv district. He studied at the local elementary school, then in the teachers’ seminary of Uzhgorod. For more than 40 years, he worked in educational field in different parts of the region. At the same time, he showed himself as a talented poet, author of the deep spiritual lyrics and patriotic poetry full of ideas of nationalism and love for native land. Since young age, he was published in local and national literary journals, released 13 original poetry collections.
After the event, the participants also put flowers and conducted memorial service at the grave of the poet.
