Yuliya Dub, the leader of the Student euromaidan in Uzhgorod disapproves the idea to picket the Regional Police Department today. She wrote in her facebook: "So far, they have been very loyal to us and done nothing wrong. The policemen, who patrolled Teatralna Sq., next to our tent camp, have always been friendly, would drink tea with us and warm by the fire, and they also said that they supported us. I urge all sensible people not to picket the police, but ask them for protection and support, remind them of their constitutional and legal rights and obligations and encourage to join us. I believe that they will do as the law and human decency tells them!"
Meanwhile, the protesters appealed to local law enforcement:
"Citizens of Ukraine, Transcarpathia residents appeal to the command and personnel of special units of the Secutity Service of Ukraine, MIA of Ukraine, Internal Military Forces in Transcarpathian region.
Dear friends, officers, protectors of our families!
Everyone wants to keep their good name, have a clear conscience to themselves and to the society, and be respected by people.
But there is no individual Kyiv, Luhansk, Crimea, or Uzhgorod officer. You are all employees of one organization, and the blame will be on all of you if you do not choose your civic stance. Your colleagues in many cities of Ukraine have already sided with the people.
We ask you to diregard criminal orders of your command and to act in the interests of your people.
We also appeal to former employees of law enforcement bodies, who have invaluable experience, please, come to protests, look for provocateurs in the crowd and prevent the blood spill. Protect people from violence.
God forbid you repeat the tragic mistake of your colleagues."
Note: the peaceful protest in Uzhgorod is scheduled for 13:00 on Teatralna Square.
