Uzhgorod city council session took place with conflict, amusing incident, and some good news (PHOTOS, VIDEO)

Today’s session of Uzhgorod city council brought a conflict, an amusing incident, as well as good news.

The highlight of the plenary session was a conflict between priests and "representatives of the ATO participants."

The reason for the dispute was the claims for allocation of land brought by the priests of the Moscow Patriarchate. The litigation regarding the land for the construction of a church near the railway hospital has been waged for a while now. It was once allocated by the city council to a representative of one denomination, but later the priest switched to other denomination, and the dispute has been going on since then.

Representatives of certain organizations, that supposedly represent the interests of the ATO participants, though have a dubious reputation, protested against the claims of the Moscow Patriarchate. Therefore, currently, it seems impossible to settle the conflict, so they tried to solve it at the session,,, with fists. The police had to intervene.   After that, something unprecedented happened. Priests and their "support group" began to pray in the hall, saying that they would go on until their issue is settled. The blackmailing lasted for quite a while: people were praying and singing religious songs in the meeting hall of the City Council. The Mayor had to adjourn the meeting, and the deputies left the hall. It looked somewhat absurd… The session continued only around 14.00.

As for the good news, it was reported that the court forbade to distribute the land near the Consumer Services Center on Petofi Square (formally it was to be allocated "for garage construction" to persons related to deputy Voloshin, notorious for numerous scandals with illegal appropriation of property and land of Uzhgorod community).
